Arlen Specter Switching Parties From Republican To Democrat | Huffington Post

It's been my obsession regarding whether or not the Democratic Party will have 60 seats in the US Senate.  (See previous post.)

I have been posting more personal stories these days, but I haven't forget about this.  Al Franken is still in court with Norm Coleman regarding the senate seat in Minnesota.  But today...wow.

This makes #58 Mark Bagich from Alaska, #59 Al Franken from Minnesota, and #60 Arlen Specter from Pennsylvania.  That's sixty excluding the Independents who usually vote with the Democrats.

You see, it takes a lot of forces and (un)fortunate events for a Republican senator, serving the US Senate since 1980, to switch over parties.  This is no small deal, and certainly no joke.

Not to mention, his switch will give the US Senate 60 seats.  Sixty seats in the Senate means that the political party in majority will get most if not all of the agenda passed.

For starters, cabinet appointments will be passed.  Then onto healthcare bills and second stimulus package if need...I can keep on going and going with this...
